He heads out into the desert, the first and last place he ever felt free, and waits until he sees the drone formation silhouetted against the moons. If any kids are watching the sky tonight, looking for starships or satellites, they’ll see a prince’s death instead. They’ll remember it.
The air around him crackles as he rises, burning like a conquering star. This will be his first defeat. It feels like his final victory.
