Summary: A summer night on Earth, and a chance to relax.
Notes: Originally written as a giftfic for vorokis on AO3.
Jim loves the stars, and never knowing what’s out beyond them, but Bones loves solid ground, so Earth is where their shore leave finds them – not Iowa but Georgia, where the night is humid and sweet with summer. There are lightning bugs, and a flask of whiskey shared between them. Jim drinks slow enough to savor it, and Bones drinks without regret.
“Happy anniversary,” he says. “Congratulations on not being the death of me yet.”
“Love you too,” Jim says, grinning. Bones’s arm around his shoulders is an anchor, but that’s alright. Sometimes, staying in one place isn’t so bad.
