Fic: Wasteland Waiting
Title: Wasteland Waiting
Fandom: The Magnus Archives
Characters/pairings: Adelard Dekker
Wordcount: 100
Rating: PG
POV: First person (Statement fic)
Summary: A fragmentary audio recording, found among the personal effects of one Gertrude Robinson.
Notes: Originally written as a giftfic for yuuago on AO3.
[A tape, obscured by static]:
- know you don’t believe me, Gertrude, but it wasn’t the Vast outside that window. Certainly, it was empty, certainly cold, but I know London’s skyline when I see it.
When I shattered the glass, before it all collapsed, some snow blew through. It melted like water, but smelled like metal, and the floor sizzled where it hit. I burned those floorboards. Didn’t like the look of the stains. But I didn’t manage to stop it from getting into our world, and that bothers me.
Fire destroys a lot, but I’m not sure it destroyed enough.
